MATH LAB @ NYC
MATH LAB @ NYC
Students usually feel anxiety and stress when they are asked to attend mathematics and statistics courses at a University level. By improving their expertise in math, students can reduce and often eliminate this anxiety. The aim of New York College Math Lab is to help students reduce stress and in addition to train them in basic mathematics skills, review their high school knowledge, and help them meet the requirements of their programme math courses.
New York College undergraduate students have the opportunity to attend one-to-one math tutorials during the semester, taught by the School of Engineering and Informatics faculty members. Students are given assistance on study skills for math and sciences, problem-solving, math test-taking, as well as preparatory crash courses prior to students taking Algebra I.
Students should come into contact with the Math Lab early on their studies so that they register and they take advantage of the free-of-charge tutorials that we offer throughout the academic year.
- The Math Lab offers scheduled tutorials during term time on:
- Basic Algebra
With the assistance of the instructors students understand the concepts, learn techniques to solve problems with varying levels of difficulty, and demonstrate that these techniques in exercises taken from textbooks and other sources.
In addition to workshops, students are able to sign up for individual tutorials in case they need assistance with a particular course and/or an assignment and exam.
