Ph.D.
The New York College continues to be committed to excellence in research and encourages graduates in all disciplines to consider studying for a PhD – the highest award conferred by the university, or an MPhil. To this end, the university offers the opportunity to study for a PhD or MPhil in any subject area where we have relevant research expertise, in discussion with the Academic Group, Research Institute or Research Centre.
The PhD by thesis is awarded to a candidate who, having critically investigated and evaluated an approved topic resulting in an independent and original contribution to knowledge and demonstrated an understanding of research methods appropriate to the chosen field, has presented and defended a thesis. This PhD programme is designed for those who wish to pursue supervised research at doctoral level leading to the production of a traditional thesis which will be considered as an original and independent contribution to knowledge and justify the award of a PhD. It is possible to apply for and to be registered for the PhD either ‘direct’ or ‘via MPhil’.

Testimonial
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all academic staff of the UoB in Greece for their deep commitment and commendable work and effort toward the PhD program. I have been a part-time PhD student for the last 4 years in NYC and all through the academic year, all staff has ensured that the program runs smoothly, our questions are answered promptly and the timetables put forward are always flexible and feasible.
This commitment has also been true during the challenging time of the pandemic. I have personally witnessed the commitment of the academic staff and the immense care towards all students of the program. As a matter of fact, we have been able to achieve our educational goals through your tireless efforts.
I would like to pay a special tribute to Dr. Anna Bougia, without her great contribution towards helping the students, this PhD program would not be feasible. Her individual guidance towards us, as well as guiding the integrated efforts of other academic staff members of the college, has accelerated the progress we have made in our PhD."
Mavolis V.
"Pursuing my PhD has been an immensely rewarding challenge. The program expanded my knowledge and skills through rigorous and intensive research. Under the guidance of dedicated professors and supervisors, I honed my critical thinking abilities and perseverance. Conducting original research to contribute to the field was a demanding yet fulfilling process. Earning this doctoral degree took drive and determination, but also opened new opportunities, and for that I will always be grateful."
Dimitris Ch.
