On the occasion of the visit of professor Neil Garrod, Deputy Vice Chancellor, the University of Greenwich, a welcome party was organized at New York College premises in Athens, with the presence of His Excellency David Landsman; Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Greece; dignitaries from the British Council in Athens; the director of the shipping program in Greenwich Dr. Alec Koutroubis; the founder and president of New York College Mr. Elias Foutsis; and alumni of the University of Greenwich both from United Kingdom and New York College.

This is a training seminar of 25 contact hours for teachers of foreign languages and senior students, offered by the University of Greenwich, UK.
Course Summary
The main objective of the module is to develop and enhance participants’ theoretical and practical understanding of modern techniques in language teaching through an understanding of how L2 learners process and acquire languages.
The module features:
The interface between language learning and language teaching;
processes and products
- the role of Input practice
- the role of Grammar Instruction
- the role of Corrective feedback
- the role of Interaction
- the role of Output practice
a combination of generic and subject-specific language training;
opportunities for trainees and teachers to produce sample materials and lesson plans;
opportunities for participants to evaluate the individual sessions and the module;
opportunities for peer observation and peer review;
opportunities for resource discovery.
